 Basuto Tough, surefooted, fearless and famed as a warhorse during the Boer War, the Basuto is the descendent of horses brought to South African by the Dutch East India Company. A concerted effort is being made to re-establish the breed, which is used not only for general transport and racing, but also for trekking holidays for tourists.
